Microsoft Outlook Setup Guide

System: Windows 7

Interface: IMAP / SMTP

This guide will walk you through the setting up Microsoft Outlook to work with an email account hosted on our systems.

Please note that you will need the following information in order to complete this process:
  • Your account username and password
  • The email address that you will be setting up




  • STEP 1

    Click the Start menu, then click "Control Panel" to open your control panel.





    STEP 2:

    If you are in "Category" view, switch to Large Icon view, otherwise proceed to step 3.




    STEP 3:

    Click the "Mail" Icon to open Outlook's Mail settings.







    STEP 4:

    Click "E-mail Accounts..." so that we can add your email account.







    STEP 5:

    Click "New..." to begin adding your new IMAP account into Outlook.







    STEP 6:

    Make sure that "Email Account" is selected, then click "Next"







    STEP 7:

    Click the option to configure your email account manually, then click "Next"







    STEP 8:

    Click "Next" to begin configuring your internet email account manually.







    STEP 9:

    Enter your name as you would like it to appear in people's inbox when you send them an email, along with your email address, our IMAP server name (imap.tech911solutions.com), our SMTP server name (smtp.tech911solutions.com), your username, and your password, then click "More Settings..." to change a few of the default settings to meet our needs.







    STEP 10: (optional)

    Give your email account an account name. This is how your email account will be listed down the nagivation bar on the left side of Outlook.







    STEP 11:

    Click the "Outgoing Server" tab, then check the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" check box to tell Outlook that our SMTP servers need your account login to send email.







    STEP 12:

    Click the "Advanced" tab, then make change the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" port to either 587 or 465, then click "Ok". Our system will accept the connection on either port.







    STEP 13:

    When you get dropped back to the window with all the server and account information on it, click "Next" to finalize the settings and test the connection.







    STEP 14:

    Once the incoming and outgoing email systems have been tested and the setup of the account is complete, click "Finish" to exit the setup wizard.







    STEP 15:

    Click "Close" to close out of the Email Accounts window, then "Close" to close out of the Mail Setup window. Once this is done, you may also close your control panel and open Outlook to begin using your email account.
